Seattle Humane offers cremation and humane euthanasia services as well as pet loss support groups as a place for pet owners who have suffered a loss to work through the grief process in a non-judgmental environment.

Pet loss

Cremation

Seattle Humane offers the option of a private or non-private cremation. Private cremations are processed individually and the animal’s remains are returned to the owner in an urn. The owner may choose from one of six styles of complimentary urns.

This process takes up to two weeks for the remains to be ready for pick-up. Please call (425) 649-7566 or email pethelp@seattlehumane.org for more information.

For an additional $60, commemorative clay paw prints can be made, and for $30, fur clippings can be collected.

Humane Euthanasia

Seattle Humane may be able to provide end-of-life care through medical euthanasia for pets who qualify. Please contact vets@seattlehumane.org for information on how to access this service. Seattle Humane is typically not able to accommodate emergency euthanasia requests – a list of local emergency clinics is available on our Animal Emergencies page.

Pet Loss Support

Pet Loss Support offers a place for you to work through the grief process in a non-judgmental environment with others who have suffered a similar loss. There is no fee and you are free to attend as often as necessary throughout your grief process. For more information call (425) 641-0080 or email petloss@seattlehumane.org.

Virtual Pet Loss Support Group Dates

Groups take place virtually on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. RSVP to petloss@seattlehumane.org with VIRTUAL PLSG in the subject line.
