Wiggle and Wag Story Time
Saturday, February 15, 11am-12pm

Bring your 3-7 year-olds to the shelter on select Saturdays to play and learn together. We’ll read a story, work on a craft, and practice respect and appreciation for pets. Adult supervision required.

Cost: $20 per family

Workshop for Young Teens
Monday, February 17, 8:30am-3:30pm

For youth currently in grades 6-8. Socialize with other animal lovers while learning about how animal shelters operate and working on service activities together. Earns three hours of community service. Theme: Enrichment.

Cost: $145 per participant

Summer Camp 2025

Each day at camp is packed with animal interactions, games, guest speakers, and crafts. Youth who have attended our 4-day camps before are invited to register for Shelter Pros sessions. Youth who have not attended our 4-day camps in the past two years should register for Animal Adventures weeks. All camps run Monday-Thursday from 8:30am to 3:30pm. The fee is $645. To request assistance with the registration fee, complete this form before registering for camp. Email our team at EducationServices@seattlehumane.org with any questions.

Animal Adventures Camp

Calling all animal lovers! Time to focus on ALL types of creatures and learn about less traditional pets such as bunnies, rats, hamsters, reptiles and more. Meet some adorable shelter animals and learn how we care for them including an age-appropriate introduction to veterinary medicine and skills. Encounter exotic guests, play games, and make new friends. Practicing empathy and compassion for all species will help youth create bonds with animals and people alike.

Campers entering grades 2 through 5: June 30- July 3; July 21-24
Campers entering grades 6 through 8: July 14-17; August 11-14

Shelter Pros Camp

For returning campers entering grades 3 through 8.

We are excited to welcome your children back to camp at Seattle Humane! These camp weeks are for youth who have attended our 4-day camps in the last two years and will be tailored to attendees’ interests with new activities, lessons, and crafts. Options will include veterinary medicine and animal health focused lessons, keeping wild animals and habitats safe and healthy, and some favorite crafts. Join us this summer for new activities, fun and learning!

We will also offer single-day workshops in June and July for elementary and middle school-age students.

Youth entering 10th grade or higher in September 2025 can apply to volunteer as Junior Leaders to help create a fun and safe camp! Please check the Youth Programs webpage in April 2025 for more information.

Scout Workshops

We are excited to welcome scouts to our shelter to earn their animal-themed badges, awards, and electives! Programs include a lesson and activities specific to scouting levels. For example, we offer workshops for the Daisy Animal Observer badge, Brownie Pets badge, Junior Animals Habitats badge, STEM Career Exploration badges for all scouting levels, Cub Scout Critter Care Adventure and more!

High School Service Shifts

Students entering grades 9-12 are invited to assist with routine shelter tasks, meet other teens and earn community service hours at Seattle Humane through our special High School Service Shifts program. Whether it is washing food and water bowls, cleaning crates used for transferring pets, or packing pet food, the work done will not only benefit pets but also count toward community service hours needed to graduate high school.

Shift Information:

All shifts take place at Seattle Humane: 13212 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue. There is a $25 registration fee to cover staff time needed to train and supervise participants.

Earn Service Hours at Home

Show the pets you care and meet school service requirements!

Seattle Humane’s Pet Food Bank collects and distributes donations of pet food and supplies to pet owners throughout the region helping provide nearly 82,000 meals to pets. We could use your help! Organize a drive to gather donations or consider distributing Kindness Cards to make an impact in your community. You might find that pets need help in your very own neighborhood. You can also help raise money for pets by holding bake sales, yard sales, craft sales, participate in walk-a-thons, and much more! Feel free to use your imagination to come up with a fundraising idea.

Humane Teen Club

Applications are closed for the 2024-2025 school year. Recommendations are accepted year-round and can be submitted through the link in the information packet below.

Humane Teen Club (HTC) is for animal advocates who are 13-17 years old. During the school year, members meet two Saturdays per month to learn about operations at Seattle Humane and explore a variety of animal welfare related topics. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible for select volunteer positions at Seattle Humane, including special summer opportunities.
