Group Volunteering
Volunteer at the shelter!
Group Volunteering On-Site at Seattle Humane
Group volunteer sessions are hosted at our Seattle Humane campus and allow groups the opportunity to experience and contribute to our work at the shelter. Seattle Humane relies on community support to continue our lifesaving work and we request a donation to help cover the resources needed to host groups on campus, and to support our shelter and lifesaving programs.
What to Expect
- A brief presentation about Seattle Humane and our lifesaving work
- Active service session—activities may include laundry, cleaning yard spaces, trail maintenance, kennel cleaning or similar activities
- 20-minute animal encounter
- Group photo to celebrate your accomplishments
The Details
- We can accommodate groups as small as 5 and as large as 15 participants
- Group volunteer sessions are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays and last about two hours
- We offer morning sessions at 10 a.m. or afternoon sessions at 3 p.m.
- A $1,000 donation is required to cover staff time and to support Seattle Humane’s programs
- All participants must be 18 years or older
- The presence of animal fur, animal dander and peanut butter can be found throughout our facility. Please plan accordingly to ensure that you have a safe visit
- While our volunteers will have an animal encounter during their sessions, we do not permit groups to handle or walk our adoptable animals. If you’re interested in working with animals regularly, you can sign up to become an individual volunteer at Seattle Humane
There is occasionally some flexibility in the above requirements. If you have a larger group or different needs, please reach out to us!
Please note that group volunteer opportunities are very limited and dependent on current shelter needs and availability. Group volunteering dates must be scheduled at least 4 weeks in advance and can be booked no more than 4 months in advance.
We understand that not all groups are able to contribute monetary donations but do have time and energy to donate, which we appreciate as well! If that is the case for your group, please consider the off-site opportunities below.
