Group Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for thinking of Seattle Humane for your group service project or volunteer event! There are several ways your group can support Seattle Humane and pets in need.

Volunteering On-Site at Seattle Humane

Group volunteer sessions are hosted at our Seattle Humane campus and allow community groups the opportunity to experience and contribute to our work at the shelter. Seattle Humane relies on community support to continue our lifesaving work and we request a donation to help cover the resources needed to host groups on campus, and to support our shelter and community programs.

What to Expect

  • A brief presentation about Seattle Humane and our lifesaving work
  • Active service session—activities may include laundry, cleaning yard spaces, trail maintenance, kennel cleaning or similar activities
  •  20-minute animal encounter
  • Group photo to celebrate your accomplishments

The Details

  • We can accommodate groups as small as 5 and as large as 15
  • Group volunteer sessions are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays
  • We offer morning sessions at 10 a.m. or afternoon sessions at 3 p.m.
  • A donation is required to cover staff time and to support Seattle Humane’s programs

There is occasionally some flexibility in the above requirements. If you have a larger group or different needs, please reach out to us at communityprograms@seattlehumane.org.

We understand that not all groups are able to contribute monetary donations but do have time and energy to donate, which we appreciate as well! If that is the case for your group, please consider the off-site opportunities below.

Group Volunteering Off-Site Options

Supply Drive

If your team prefers to do an independent supply drive to benefit Seattle Humane, please visit our In-Kind Donations page for more information on accepted items, drop-off times, and links to our Wish Lists.

Host a Fundraiser

Hold bake sales, yard sales, craft sales, participate in walk-a-thons and much more! Feel free to use your imagination to come up with a fundraising idea. Learn more about hosting a fundraiser.

DIY Blankets, Toys and More!

Many groups choose to make items for the pets in Seattle Humane’s care. Seattle Humane is not able to provide supplies, but you can read about the different items and view instructions on our Community Service Projects page.

Donations can be brought to our shelter any time during Adoption Center hours, which are Tuesday through Sunday from 12 to 6 p.m. More information about drop-off times, locations, and donation receipts can be found on our In-Kind Donations page.
